Hawa Mahal

 

The Hawa Mahal was built in Jaipur in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh to allow the royal women to watch street festivals while remaining unseenDesigned by Lal Chand Ustad, the palace’s unique facade is shaped like the crown of Lord Krishna and features 953 small windows with intricate latticework that allow cool breezes to pass through, earning it the name “Palace of Winds”

Jal Mahal

Jal Mahal was originally built around the 16th century after a famine, when the ruler built a dam to create Man Sagar Lake to provide water for localsThe palace was later renovated in the 18th century by Maharaja Jai Singh II, who also transformed the lake into a royal hunting lodge and summer retreat. The stunning “water palace” is a blend of Mughal and Rajput architecture and is famous for its five stories, with four remaining submerged when the lake is full

 

Amer Fort

Amer Fort was built by the Kachhwaha Rajputs, initially a stronghold for the Meena tribe, starting in the 11th century and significantly expanded by Raja Man Singh I around 1600. It was the royal residence until the capital was moved to Jaipur in 1727, and its story is defined by military strength and Mughal influence in architecture, with the impressive Sheesh Mahal being one of its notable features. The fort is connected to Jaigarh Fort by a secret tunnel for emergency use
